General Statement

Norwalk Community School District (NCSD) is committed to ensuring that the content on its website is accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities and users of assistive technology. In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Iowa Civil Rights Act (ICRA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), NCSD has made and continues to make, efforts to ensure content on all of its websites is accessible to everyone.

STANDARDS

NCSD uses the accessibility standards of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA, with the exception of video content which follows WCAG 2.0 level A, as the minimum technical standards to develop and maintain its websites.

DISCLAIMERS

NCSD is aware that some PDF documents on its websites do not currently meet accessibility requirements. NCSD is working to update those documents to comply with modern accessibility standards. If you have trouble accessing any of these documents, please let NCSD’s Communications Department, tiffany.redman@norwalkschools.org, know and it will provide the requested information in an alternate format.

NCSD websites integrate with platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter in an effort to use modern communication methods and to encourage digital citizenship among its users. These services are provided by their respective companies and NCSD is not responsible for their adherence to accessibility standards.

NCSD websites also integrate with Google Translate in an effort to improve access for people who come from non-English-speaking backgrounds. Google Translate is a service provided by Google, Inc. and NCSD is not responsible for its content or its adherence to accessibility standards.

REPORTING ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES

If you are using assistive technology and having problems accessing any NCSD websites or its content, please contact the NCSD Communications Department, tiffany.redman@norwalkschools.org and every effort will be made to remedy the issue and/or provide you with the information you are seeking in an alternative format until the issue can be remedied.
