Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

During the school closure, the Norwalk Community School District’s Nutrition Department will provide an opportunity for families to drive through, or walk up to pick up meals for your children at a couple of community sites. Children must be present in order for meals to be provided. The following sites will provide both a lunch for the day and a breakfast for the following day. Meals will be distributed between 11:30-12:30 beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. Please stay in your car and wait patiently for the meals to be brought to your car. You will be given a number of meals based upon the number of children in the car ages 1-18.

Community Sites offering meals will be the Lakewood Elementary Parking lot and the Norwalk City Park. Please know this information may change and will be communicated to the community as quickly as possible.

This program will be solely for pickup of meals and meals will not be consumed on site. We encourage families to be proactive in reducing the risk of Covid-19 by not congregating at the community sites once meals have been distributed, continue to wash your hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow, and stay home if you are sick. Please follow recommendations to social distancing as we all play a part in taking care of each other.

If you are interested in donating to help feed the children in our community, you may donate to the Norwalk Community School District “Feed the Children” fund, or you may donate to the Norwalk Food Pantry. Charitable donations will be accepted through April 12, 2020 at the district level. The Norwalk Food Pantry is always accepting donations.

Stay well & be kind!

Sincerely,

DeeAnna Serres
Nutrition Program Director
