Kate Baldwin, Executive Director of Admin Services

District planning for the NPECC and Classroom Addition has been a main focus of energy for the School Board over the past two years, especially since the bond approval vote in March of 2020.  The planning is complete and construction bids are due on March 10th.  Now the District is rapidly preparing for construction implementation.    Below is a site map that depicts the location of the large building addition that will comprise a new 3-court size gymnasium, wrestling room, three locker rooms, two-story fitness room, balcony walking-running track around the gym perimeter,  six new classrooms, large multipurpose area and renovation of existing areas in the southwest portion of the HS.   The actual addition will be nestled between the Stadium and the existing HS gym.  The site is perfect for a large two-story addition.  This location gives convenient access to the old gym, stadium and middle school students that will share this space.  Please visit the Norwalk School website to review the project plans.  The School Board is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony at 5 pm on Monday, April 12th near the HS gym entrance.   The Board welcomes public participation to celebrate a 20-year vision becoming a reality for our current and future students.  Learn more about the groundbreaking ceremony on our school website.  Actual construction is scheduled to begin April 19th, weather permitting.

Due to the size and location of this large building addition, the District will need to close off the existing Middle School drive that leads to the main entrance and dedicate the drive and site access for contractors, material deliveries and construction equipment. This will require AM student drop off and PM student pickup to occur at the back entrance to the MS on the east side of the building.  Parents and the public will use the newly paved Baseball-Softball Drive to access this east entrance. Starting Monday, April 12th the main entrance west MS drive will be closed to parent and public access and will remain closed until the project is completed in August of 2022.  The main office on the west side of the MS will remain open during the day however, visitors will need to park on the east side of the MS or in other designated areas south of the MS.
