Notice Regarding Collections of Negative Student Lunch Accounts
The Nutrition Department would like to remind parents that delinquent student meal accounts will be sent to a third party collection agency. A delinquent account is any individual student account that is over $5 negative as of the 1st each month.
Students in grades K-7 will continue to be provided with one lunch meal per day if they do not bring an alternate lunch from home, but the account will continue to accumulate meal charges even after the account has been submitted to collections.
Students in grades 8-12 are only permitted to charge up to $-5.00 before they will be required to either have cash for their meal purchase or bring an alternative meal from home.
Parents should enroll in the District’s online student meal account program at www.schoolcafe.com to monitor account balances and register for low balance email alerts. (Parents with students in grades 6-12 need to select Norwalk High School when enrolling in the program.)
If you do not have Internet access, the Nutrition Department is happy to provide you with a balance via telephone. Please phone 981-9876 if you have questions.
The District may assess a $25 administrative fee on any delinquent account.
