The Facts

  • 1 in 5 children does not have enough to eat in Iowa
  • Up to 5,000 children (K -6th grade) are served each week through the BackPack Program
  • 138 sites in 31 Iowa counties participate in the program

What Participating Children Receive

  • Two Breakfast Items
  • Two 100% juice/veg boxes
  • Two fruit items
  • Two snack items
  • Two shelf-stable servings of milk
  • One main meal
  • One individual sized nut butter

How to Help

  • Donate funds – For approximately $4 a week, you can provide a backpack full of food to a child in need
  • Volunteer – Groups or individuals are needed on a monthly basis to set-up, pack and assemble more than 4,000 sacks of food for participating children
